Members of Congress introduced on June 9 bills that would regulate a process used in natural gas drilling called hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking." The process injects hazardous chemicals deep into the ground to force out natural gas. Numerous harms to health and the environment are linked to this process, but the industry does not disclose what chemicals they are using. This bill would require public disclosure and regulate this process.
