Federal law requires industrial facilities that use large amounts of extremely hazardous substances to file a Risk Management Plan (RMP) with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
RMP was last updated on RTK Net with a set of EPA data made on August 28, 2009.
These RMP data are intended to save lives, protect property, and prevent pollution. In particular, some industrial facilities are switching to safer and more secure chemicals that reduce the danger to employees and surrounding communities.
EPA does not release to the public some of the most important data in the RMP database; these data can only be obtained by going to a federal reading room.
More information about RMP data is available here. Additional information about the Risk Management Plans may be found at the EPA website.
