In the table above, the "Last Update Date" is the date on which the data used by RTK NET were prepared by EPA, not the date on which RTK NET made the data available to users.

RTK NET keeps the TRI database up-to-date by updating it once per year within a day of the release date of the TRI Public Data Release -- the earliest day on which EPA permits the data to be released as a complete database. Our goal is to keep the other major databases to a once-per-year update schedule (once every two years for BRS, which is biennial). Limits on available staff time mean that we are currently not meeting this goal.

"Program Style" in the table above refers to how RTK NET presents the data. Some databases still use a text-only output, and these are indicated as "old", while others have fully marked-up HTML output and are referred to as "new". "Master only" refers to databases whose RTK NET copies are so old that direct access to them has been removed; only a pointer to hits on the old data is left in the Master report.

"Worked on Next" in the table above refers to the projected order in which RTK NET plans to update the databases. "--" indicates that both the data and the program style are current and that no updates are needed. A number indicates that the data or program style or both need to be updated, with 1 being worked on first, 2 next, etc.

As time permits, RTK NET may add new databases. Those being considered are (in approximate order):
FRSupdated version of FINDS
ICISupdated version of DOCKET
PRPupdated version of SETS
ECHOenforcement and violation summary
RSEITRI toxicity weights
SDWISdrinking water systems
ETSsmog constituent releases
NEIair pollution emission inventory
AIRS/AFSair pollution permits
IRISofficial EPA toxicology
SRDtoxics in consumer products
PPISpesticide constituents

Some of these are databases that have been previously provided on RTK NET, but fell into disuse either because it was no longer possible to get new copies of the data, or because of RTK NET staff time constraints prevented them from being updated. Others would be new. EPA has some monitoring databases, such as AIRS/AQS (air monitoring), or STORET (water monitoring), which are generally not being considered for RTK NET because they rely on frequent updates.

All of the databases above are U.S. EPA databases, with the exception of NPRI, a Canadian database, and ERNS, which is run by the U.S. Coast Guard. There are other U.S. databases on environmental issues which could be added, such as toxicology databases held by ATSDR or energy / pollution databases held by DOE, as well as non-U.S. databases such as the EU, Mexican, and Japanese equivalents to TRI. These will be considered as time permits.

RTK NET used to provide access to databases on housing issues, which included data from HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act), PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance), AHS (American Housing Survey), and U.S. Census data. RTK NET no longer plans to provide access to these databases unless new funding becomes available.

RTK NET used to provide county-level copies of LANDVIEW, a desktop mapping program with EPA data included in it, but EPA decided not to provide these county-level programs for more recent versions of LANDVIEW, and RTK NET had to discontinue providing the program once it became too out of date.
